An Ottawa doctor, who uses viruses to attack cancerous tumors, is one step closer to finding a cure for cancer.
A study published Wednesday in the prestigious Lancet Oncology Journal shows promising results from research by Dr. John Bell and his team at the Ottawa Health Research Institute.
During a clinical trial, which treated 14 patients with terminal, end-stage cancers, 10 people lived longer than expected.
Bell says much of the money used to develop these trials, comes from donations generated in the Capital.
Jennerex, a U.S.-based start-up company that runs clinical trials, says it will expand the number of cancers for which the treatment will be used.
