More construction in downtown Ottawa is about to give motorists another traffic headache as work gets underway to replace a water main on King Edward Avenue and construction begins at a major Bank Street intersection connecting drivers to the Queensway.

Crews began work to replace a water main on King Edward Avenue at Laurier Avenue Tuesday morning.

As a result, the east side of Laurier Avenue is closed between King Edward and Henderson Avenues. The construction also affects OC Transpo bus route No. 5.

Work on the water main is expected to last two weeks.

Meanwhile, more construction will begin on Bank Street in the Glebe at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The intersection at Chamberlain Avenue, Bank Street and Isabella Street, which connects motorists to the eastbound Queensway, will be closed until July 27. Detours will be in place.
