Manotick is set to get a new sewage pipeline after the project got a nod of approval from Ottawa city councillors on Wednesday.

Manotick residents have long complained about failing septic systems in the village and say the sewage problem was so bad the stench from the sewage could be smelled while walking down Main Street.

While many are in favour of the new sewer pipe, others say the pipeline project could kill the character of the village.

The new sewage pipe connection will cost $27 million and homeowners are set to pick up $6 million of the cost.
