A man carrying a loaded handgun on Rideau Street has been arrested by Ottawa Police.
Ismail Ismail, 27, was arrested Saturday around 1:08 a.m. after police responded to a call about a disturbance in near Rideau Street and Dalhousie Street. After an arrest was made, police discovereda 9 mm pistol concealed on his person.
One of the men involved in the altercation was wanted on a warrant for violating his parole conditions.
Ismail is facing numerous charges including:
- Use, handle store firearms carelessly
- Possess Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace Carry Concealed Weapon Possess prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate
- Possess prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence
- Occupy motor vehicle with firearm
- Possess loaded regulated firearm
- Possess firearm obtained by crime
- Possess firearm while prohibited (2 counts)
- Cause a disturbance by fighting/shouting/swearing Obstrust/Resist a Peace Officer
Ismail is scheduled to appear in court Saturday morning.
