It’s a lineup for the latest and greatest offering… in East Ottawa.
“We came early because there are so few ravine lots available with single homes on them. Of course we all want our forever home for our children,” says Ashley Lamothe who has been camping out for three days.
It’s not for a concert of Apple’s latest device. Instead, these families are lining up for their future homes.
Minto’s Enclave at Trailsedge is a new Navan community in Ottawa’s east-end. The big draw: eight premium Creekside lots.
“We knew there were a lot of people who were interested in the project, but this was a little surprising to see people lining up there on Wednesday,” says Brent Strachan, Vice President of Minto Communities.
The demand comes during a time when the housing market in Ottawa has been seen as sluggish. Still, these potential homebuyers say a premium lot at a starting price of $469,000 is too good to pass up.
While they wait in line, these homebuyers have decided they might as well get to know each other.
“Somebody brought what we call a party bus, someone has a tent camped out here, someone brought a barbecue. So it's really camping,” says Lamothe.
Lamothe says while they all started referring to each other by their number position in line, this experience will definitely bring them together as neighbours.
