A new stadium at a renovated Lansdowne Park could be ready for professional soccer and football for 2014, according to a new timeline to be released in August.
The news comes after the city won a court case against the Friends of Lansdowne, who are against the sole-sourced development.
Roger Greenberg with Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group said he's counting on the new stadium being open for 2014.
"There's still many, many steps in front of us before we'll be able to enjoy football or soccer at Lansdowne Park," he said.
The re-development was supposed to start construction last month, and there's still a few potential legal hurdles in the way.
"The threatened court challenge that's going to come next week, that's been threatened for more than a year now so our view is: bring it on," said Greenberg, referring to a challenge by the Lansdowne Park Conservancy. "Let us see what it is that he wants to file and we'll have an opportunity to look at it and then respond through the legal courts in due course. But there's nothing new from what we've seen in that particular challenge."
Ottawa City Council will get an update on the $300 million project August 18.
