The group seeking to redevelop Lansdowne Park has issued an ultimatum to Ottawa city council: decide by next week, or we walk away.
Roger Greenberg of Minto told the Ottawa Citizen's editorial board Friday that the "Lansdowne Live" development, including a revamped football stadium, outshines the Kanata proposal for an outdoor soccer-only stadium.
City council is expected to make a final decision on Wednesday. A delay could lead his group to abandon their plan, Greenberg said.
City council was also urged today by a senior Ontario cabinet minister to declare its priorities.
"The key thing is that the municipality will have to assert their priority on behalf of the people, and then the federal and provincial governments will do our very best to respond to those priorities," said Energy and Infrastructure Minister George Smitherman.
More than 35 people have signed up for a public hearing scheduled for Monday.
