The Ottawa International Airport has several tips for airborne travelers coping with the twin terror of the holiday season and winter storms across much of Ontario and the eastern half of North America:

  • Verify flight information with the airline, and plan accordingly if the flight is delayed or cancelled;

  • Plan more travel time to get to the airport in case of bad weather;

  • Allow yourself extra time to get through check-in and security screening, since about 2,000 extra passengers are departing each day;

  • Before you pack, be sure of what is not allowed in your carry-on luggage. For more information visit www.catsa-acsta.gc.ca;

  • Have all necessary travel documents ready before leaving for the airport.
