A 32-year-old Gatineau man has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash on Highway 17 that kept the highway closed for hours in Arnprior.

Police say Karlinton Boothe was killed when his transport truck rear-ended another tractor trailer in a construction zone on Highway 17 near Campbell Drive in McNab/Braeside Township at about 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the collision happened at a point where eastbound traffic was stopping for construction on the highway. A transport truck failed to stop, causing it to rear-end a tanker truck, forcing a chain reaction involving two other eastbound pickup trucks.

Boothe, the driver of the transport truck, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries as a result of the collision.

Police are continuing their investigation. However, no charges are expected.
