Ottawa firefighters pulled a man out of the Rideau River this morning near Bank and Riverdale.  Marc Messier, with Ottawa Fire Services, says a passerby walking a dog had spotted a body floating in the river just off the shore in that area around 7:30 a.m.   When firefighters arrived, they found a man floating face up and still breathing.  They went into the water to rescue him and pull him to safety.

Ottawa Paramedics say the man had slight hypothermia.  He was transported to hospital where he was in serious condition.

Ottawa Police are investigating as to how the man ended up in the water in the first place.
