A family of four lost their new home two weeks before they were scheduled to move in, after a fire ravaged through their model home west of Ottawa Friday.
Ottawa Fire Services started getting 911 calls around 1:16 a.m. Friday to the two-storey home on Loreka Court in Stittsville, which had no civic address yet.
They said the fire appears to have started at the rear outside wall of the home, then spread inside and upwards to the attic.
The rear part of the home suffered heavy fire damage, and the roof was destroyed.
Fire crews estimate the damage at $200,000 to the building and $50,000 to the contents.
There were no injuries.
The family lost a fully furnished home, with a real estate agent's office inside that was staffed during the daytime.
Ottawa Fire Services said they're investigating the fire with help from the Ottawa police's arson unit.
