Ottawa's beleaguered motorists are getting a slight break from the City of Ottawa's parking enforcers in the wake of this weekend's exceptional storm.
The City of Ottawa is opening up all city-owned lots for free to let people get their cars off the streets to aid crews in their effort to make Ottawa's streets passable.
The city has also issued an emergency ban on all street parking like it did Thursday night, when hundreds of cars were towed off city streets, even those with on-street city parking permits.
Residents will be able to park at any of the city's several lots until 5 a.m. Monday morning without cost.
Ottawa is expected to get close to 50 centimetres of snow by that time from this weekend's storm.
