Canadians are being warned to expect postal delays this holiday season.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada, which represents about 2,000 striking administrative and technical postal workers, says delivery delays have already started due to the strike.

The situation is only expected to get worse when more parcels and letters start hitting mailboxes across the country in about two week's time.

Employees walked off the job on Nov.17 over short-term disability and sick leave provisions that are being imposed by Canada Post.

At that time, the federal postal service maintained mail delivery would not be affected by the walkout.
