Federal Transport Minister John Baird delivered a major transit speech this morning in Ottawa, but made no mention of any funding for Ottawa's $2 billion light rail plan.

One Ottawa City Councillor says he is very disappointed Baird has yet to deliver.

"There's no doubt that Mr. Baird, he's got to do that right thing for his government. But in the end we think we have a really good plan and a viable plan and we think that the funding should be forthcoming," said Ottawa city councillor Rainer Bloess.

Baird told reporters that an announcement on light rail funding will be in short order.

The McGuinty government committed $600 million for the Ottawa Transit plan last December.
