Homeowners in Kemptville are on the brink of disaster, through no fault of their own.

Residents of Fetherston Mobile Home Park just received letters, saying the Park’s septic and sewage drainage systems need to be replaced.

The cost to fix the problems? At least $750,000.

The Park’s owner, J. Edwin Brown Holdings Incorporated, has declared bankruptcy, leaving residents in limbo.

“We’ll be losing more than $100,000. We will be moving our clothes and our furniture and that’s it,” said resident Maurice Dumoulin.

The mobile homes are not mobile.

Unless someone decides to buy the Park, or another solution is found, residents will be forced to abandon their homes in the next couple of months.

Brian Carré with the Municipality of North Grenville says the systems have failed - they have reached their life expectancy.

"The issue is health and safety, and that's what we're focused on at this point. We have to make sure no one is harmed by the risks," said Carré.

The Municipality of North Grenville is hosting an information meeting for residents July 18th.
