A lower back injury will keep Ottawa Senators Captain Daniel Alfredsson out of the lineup for several weeks.

The chronic injury has bothered the Sens star all season, but it only recently became particularly bad.

Even at 38, Alfredsson remains one of the team's top offensive threats. He leads the team in scoring; he's on the power play; and he kills penalties.

Jesse Winchester will also miss a few weeks with a knee injury.

The Sens are on a 10-game losing streak, and the team still doesn't have a top goaltender.

Coach Cory Clouston said he plans to alternate his two goaltenders over the next few games until one of them establishes himself as the number one net minder.

Rookie Robin Lehner will start Wednesday night against the Calgary Flames. The Senators will visit Edmonton on Saturday before returning home to play the New York Islanders at Scotiabank Place next Tuesday.
