OPP closed most of Highway 401 in a stretch of Eastern Ontario for hours Friday because of multiple crashes including a fatal collision  near Prescott. It has since re-opened.

Police say a tractor trailer and a 2005 Sunfire car collided just west of the Town of Prescott.

The lone driver of the car, a 57 year old Ottawa man, did not survive.

His name has not name been released.

The crash occured just before 10 am.

Less than a hour away, OPP say there are numerous crashes closer to Kingston.

OPP confirm that one of those collisions involve a coach bus with 38 passengers on board.

None of the passengers were seriously injured.

They were sent to the Brockville Memorial Centre

The bus driver suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital.

Westbound lanes near Mallorytown have been closed.

Eastbound lanes from Kingston are closed.

Police say  Highway 401 in Eastern Ontario to be closed for hours.
