You might want to think twice the next time you hastily park your vehicle.
If you are parked illegally or taking up two spaces instead of one your handiwork just might end up on Facebook.
Two Ottawa men have launched Bad Parking Ottawa – a place where people can post pictures of bad parking. “It’s like, hey, listen. We saw you. You’ve been spotted. You’re on social media now,” says Ben Martel. “A lot of people will see you and hopefully you won’t be doing it again.”
Martel set up Bad Parking Ottawa with his friend Glen Caswell. One of their concerns was the relatively recent habit of people with gas-powered vehicles parking in spaces reserved for electric cars.
But bad parking is nothing new. If the threat of parking tickets or even being towed hasn’t curbed it, perhaps a little public shaming might. Similar sites are used in other cities. And this latest Facebook page joins the Twitter account Fail Park Ottawa @failpark_yow which began in 2010.
