It's being called a pilot project.
Advocates have been calling for cameras for a while. The Ottawa Police Service has been monitoring a number of other police forces.
Ottawa Police Association President Matt Skof says some cops have already been selected to take part in the pilot project.
Skof also says there still must be discussions over privacy and legal issues, but he's all in favour of the idea.
