The City of Ottawa is looking at heeding calls for more street food vendors, considering adding 20 new spots across the city.

There are currently 22 food trucks and 22 food carts in the capital, down from their heyday before the city stopped giving out new licenses.

The proposed expansion would allow for bigger carts, as long as they’re located more than 46 metres (150 feet) away from a restaurant.

Vendors interested in setting up when the weather gets warm are promising a variety of foods, from Italian to Indonesian.

Street food is growing in popularity in many North American cities.
