GATINEAU, Que. - Emile Poirier's power-play goal was just enough to lead the Gatineau Olympiques to victory Thursday.

Poirier scored at the 11:52 mark of the third period as the Olympiques edged the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 6-5 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Alexandre Lavoie scored for Cape Breton with 22 seconds left to play to make Poirier's goal the winner.

Raphael Lafontaine had back-to-back goals for Gatineau.

Francois Lacerte stopped 11 shots for the win, while Philippe Trudeau made 26 saves for the Screaming Eagles.

At Gatineau, Que., Jacob Conrad, Rock Regimbald and Garrett Clarke also had goals for the Olympiques (21-24-8).

William Carrier had three power-play goals for Cape Breton (20-30-2), while Cole Murphy also found the back of the net.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Chicoutimi 4 Baie-Comeau 2 and Moncton 5 Rouyn-Noranda 1.
