Freezing rain warnings across Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec ended earlier this morning.

A period of freezing rain left roads and sidewalks with a layer of ice on roads and cars.  The icy rain arrived later than expected, and ended before the morning commute began.

Fog is a factor for drivers coming to work.  Ottawa Police report no major incidents on the roads. Gatineau Police advised drivers to be careful on secondary roads, many of which have not been salted.

The Renfrew Country School Board cancelled buses today.   Buses at the Ottawa Carleton District School Board are running, though parents are told to expect delays due to icy conditions.  Children are advised to walk carefully on slippery sidewalks.

The warming temperatures forced the National Capital Comission to close the Rideau Canal Skateway until further notice.

Today’s forecast high is 11 degrees.
