Country superstar Carrie Underwood and her soon-to-be-hubby Mike Fisher stole the show at this year's Sens Soiree in Gatineau, an annual fundraiser to boost children’s healthcare in the region.

The fundraiser at the Hilton Lac-Leamy on Monday was the pair’s first official public appearance together.

While cameras were focused on snapping photos of the pair, Underwood and Fisher – a forward with the Ottawa Senators – kept their attention on the fundraising.

"We're just excited to be here. It's a great event and it's always a lot of fun seeing a lot of familiar faces and coming to a great cause," Fisher told reporters briefly. The couple did not answer any questions from the media.

The pair announced their engagement days before Christmas. On Monday, they flashed smiles and laughed as cameras followed them through the night.

"It's good to see them together. They're very happy together obviously. For us, it's not that big of a difference, but it's good to see Mike happy,” said Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson.

The couple reportedly met after Underwood performed at a concert in Ottawa in March 2008.

The Bell Sens Soiree Carnival Mystique attracted the largest crowd in the event’s history, raising $325,000 in support of the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, CSSS de Gatineau, Royal Ottawa Hospital, Queensway Carleton Hospital, Ottawa Rotary Home and Roger's House.
