Ottawa Senators forward Mike Fisher and country music star Carrie Underwood are engaged.
Fisher confirmed at practice today that he had popped the question.
However, the twitter world was buzzing well before the confirmation was made.
It started off as just a rumor. A family member on twitter posted a congratulatory note and the word was out.
Celebrity gossip tweeted "Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher are engaged!!" late Sunday night.
And one user going by texasstarfan wrote, "Carrie Underwood-Fisher, it has nice ring to it. Would you agree?"
The 29-year-old centre from Peterborough, Ont., reportedly met the 26-year-old singer after a March 2008 concert Underwood performed in Ottawa. Fisher said he popped the question on Sunday.
Underwood, who grew up in Oklahoma, won the fourth season of "American Idol."
She has sold more 10 million albums and is the first country artist to achieve 10 No. 1 singles from her first two albums.
