Principals with the Upper Canada School Board are drawing up contingency plans as secondary school teachers plan to withdraw some services Monday.
Teachers are threatening to begin a range of sanctions that could cancel extracurricular activites like school clubs and sports teams. Principals with the Upper Canada Board took part in a conference call this morning to decide how to respond. As has happened with other Ontario Board, UCDSB principals will ask parents to come forward and help with school activities. Parents will have to agree to submit to police background checks.
CTV News spoke to some students from North Grenville H.S. Wednesday who said they may stage a walkout on Monday, to protest the teachers' actions. Sources at the Upper Canada Board say they are also aware of student actions planned at Russell High School and Thousand Island Secondary School in Brockville. Many students have taken to social media to organize their protests.
