A study released by the City of Ottawa details how much money residents are paying for garbage and recycling pick up services.
The report found that the average household in the city pays about $90 for garbage collection. That amount is four times more than the cost of the green bin program, which costs about $23.
Blue and black box recycling pick up is about $20 per household.
The numbers were released after an inquiry from Councillor Peter Hume.
A number of councillors say this is evidence the green bin program is not too expensive.
