Ottawa police say a protest of about 1,000 people will likely disrupt traffic in the city's downtown core Thursday afternoon.

Protesters are expected to start their march at 1:30 p.m. departing from Parliament Hill and marching eastbound to Wellington, Rideau and Cobourg streets.

Police say the march will continue to MacDonald Park and end in front of the Turkish Embassy.

Wurtemburg Street will be closed at 1:45 p.m. as a result of the protest.

Protesters are expected to take about an hour to complete their march from Parliament Hill to MacDonald Park.
