A 48-year-old woman is in hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Ottawa's west end Friday morning.
Emergency crews were called to 1688 Woodroffe Avenue near Medhurst Drive just after 7:30 Friday morning. Paramedics say the woman slipped and was then run over by the vehicle. She suffered a serious lower leg injury.
Ottawa firefighters used cribbing and other heavy rescue equipment to free the woman from underneath the van.
She remains in hospital in stable condition.
The intersection of Woodroffe and Medhurst was closed for a short time while police investigated.
