Fire destroyed a Gatineau residence late Saturday night after a passerby noticed smoke from 57 Rue St-Paul.
The passerby saw a man sleeping in the basement and woke him up. They exited from the back of the building at about 11:50 p.m.
There were no injuries.
The cause is unknown. Investigators remained on the scene Sunday.
