The active flu season and higher than expected demand have prompted Ottawa Public Health to add new vaccination clinics this weekend.

Clinics will be held this Saturday at locations in Nepean and Orleans.

This season has proven to be particularly bad for some regions of Canada. Ten people have died in Alberta from H1N1 influenza strain.  40 other Albertans are in intensive care, and at least 300 are in hospital.

The flu shot offered by Ottawa Public Health is effective in preventing the H1N1 strain.

In addition to the clinics this weekend, residents may book an appointment to receive the flu shot.
