Ottawa Police have laid charges in connection to two separate robberies at convenience stores in the city's south end.
The first robbery happened May 15, at approximately 8:00 pm, when the man entered a store along the 2300 block of St. Andrew St. in North Gower. He was armed with a knife, and demanded money from the store employee. He fled the store with money, but no one was hurt.
On May 20, at approximately 5:10 pm, the same man entered a store along the 5500 block of Osgoode Main St in Osgoode. Once again, he showed a knife, demanded cash and fled the store.
Dean Wright, age 47 of Nation Township, is charged with two counts each of robbery, wearing a disguise, and possession of a weapons dangerous to the public.
Wright was arrested without incident on May 29th following several tips from the public. "The immediate assistance we received from the public following Wednesday's release of the images was certainly the turning point in this investigation," says S/Sgt. Michael Haarbosch of the Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit.
