A news release from Ottawa Fire Services says they received multiple 911 callers reporting smoke and flames coming out of the garage of a townhome in the 300 block of Macoun Circle shortly before 3:15 a.m.
On arrival, fire crews found the flames had also spread to a vehicle in the driveway. Firefighters began a "fast attack" on the fire and advanced a hose line inside the structure.
Ottawa paramedics say two women were assessed at the scene for minor smoke inhalation. Both were transported to hospital in stable condition.
A full search of the home found no other occupants inside, according to Ottawa fire. Firefighters were able to protect nearby structures that were at risk of catching fire.
The fire was declared under control shortly before 3:45 a.m.
High pressurized fans were used to ventilate residual smoke out of the structure. The air quality was confirmed to be safe before allowing residents to return inside.
An Ottawa Fire Services investigator has been dispatched to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the incident.
