An Ottawa man has been charged with attempted murder after an incident at the Smiths Falls hospital on Thursday.
Smiths Falls Police said in a release that a man in crisis was brought voluntarily to the Smiths Falls site of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital early Thursday morning.
The man allegedly grabbed a pair of blunt-ended scissors and stabbed a nurse in the head. Police intervened and arrested the man. The employee suffered "superficial wounds" to her head and forearms, according to police.
Ian Brennan, 24, appeared in bail court on Thursday, charged with attempted murder and resisting arrest. He was ordered to have a five-day psychiatric assessment.
