Ottawa axe throwing business says trailer and its contents stolen from parking lot

An Ottawa business is asking for the public's help to locate a stolen trailer and the contents for its axe throwing business.

LumberJaxe Ottawa says someone stole the white trailer sometime "in the last few days" from its parking lot on City Centre Avenue.

The trailer, with licence plate T5603D, contained an enclosed axe throwing cage, a LumberJaxe Corn Hole Game, a propane fireplace, freestanding LumberJaxe targets and dozens of target boards.

The trailer and its contents are used for events away from the company's City Center location, including fairs, festivals and conventions. LumberJaxe manager Lauren Flynn says the two-lane, custom-made throwing cage is especially a big loss, as it was supposed to be used this weekend.

“We were actually going to be using it for our offsite at the Calabogie Peaks Hotel, where were going to be offering outdoor axe throwing for the next two months on the weekend,” says Flynn. “The loss of that trailer is a real blow, it’s going to take us several trips to get out there and we’re going to have to buy a bunch of new things so we can build those free standing targets.”

Flynn says the team is now scrambling to prepare for its event and that they will be prepared. Flynn said the theft has been reported to the police and while there may be some nearby businesses that can provide security footage, optimism is low that the trailer will be found.

“I suppose, at this point, my real hope is that somebody sees the contents in a field dumped on the side of a road because I don’t really see that cage, the fencing, the wood, the rubber mats and everything else, I don’t see that having value to anyone else,” says Flynn. “But it does say LumberJaxe on a lot of the stuff, so we’re hoping that maybe somebody sees it somewhere and gives us a call.”

The Facebook post reporting the theft said the trailer was last seen April 6-7.

"The theft has been reported to the police, but we're not optimistic at this time," LumberJaxe – Axe Throwing Halls & Apparel said. "We're holding out hope for the contents - they're really only valuable to us - so if you see a suspicious pile of lumber, rubber, and fencing branded LUMBERJAXE - please let us know!"

The business is offering a reward for the recovery of the trailer or its contents.

"Keep your eyes peeled!" LumberJaxe said.
