More than 1,000 people lined up around the block for the first annual Ottawa Food Truck rally in Little Italy Saturday. From gourmet grilled cheese to frozen custard, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

There were 12 food trucks and 3 carts featured at the rally.

“I’m really looking forward to this amazing slaw and some spring rolls,” said Carolynn Lacasse.

“I basically tried everything I was in line at 11:30 and now I’m at ice cream from Merry Dairy,” said another customer.

Part of the proceeds are expected to go toward at least two culinary arts scholarships for tenants in Ottawa Community Housing.

The trophy for best small plate went to the Gongfu Bao cart, the winner of the large plate was Angry Dragonz and the winner of the best truck design was Urban Cowboy.
