Three days after a city hall briefing by VIA Rail about recurring problems with crossing signals in Barrhaven, the signals at the Fallowfield Road rail crossing again went into fail-safe mode.
With no train approaching, the signals stayed on for about an hour, forcing police to direct traffic on Fallowfield.
Ottawa mayor Jim Watson tweeted that VIA Rail will be asked to pay the bill for the police response. VIA did not immediately explain what caused this latest malfunction.
