DEEP RIVER, Ont. -- Two people have been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries after a passenger bus crashed into a ditch in eastern Ontario.
Ontario Provincial Police say there were no other vehicles involved in the crash that occurred around 4 a.m. Friday near Deep River, Ont.
Const. Beth Ethier says the driver and one of the passengers were hurt in the incident.
She says the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Greyhound Senior Communications Specialist Lanesha Gipson provided a statement this morning :
"The incident occurred at 4 a.m. this morning near Deep River, ON. Schedule #5608 was en route from Sudbury to Ottawa with 39 customers onboard plus the driver. Two people onboard were transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. A relief bus was called immediately and arrived to pick up the customers at approximately 7:15 a.m. and should arrive in Ottawa around 10:30 a.m.
The exact cause of the incident has not yet been determined. We are fully cooperating with the local authorities on their investigation and conducting an investigation of our own. Please contact the local authorities for additional details."
