Ottawa Police arrested 33 people during a four month investigation which resulted in the seizure of $9 thousand in cash and more than $50 thousand in street drugs.

The investigation was dubbed Project Sweeper and focused on the Byward Market and Downtown Rideau.

Police say 47 people were targetted in the investigation.  Charges have been laid against 33. Police are still searching for the remainder of the suspects.

"This Project is part of our response to community concerns about street level drug trafficking in the area," said Insp Paul Johnston in a news release.

Drugs seized include marijuana, cocaine, heroin, morhphine and Oxycodone.

The Ottawa Police news realease includes the names of the 33 people arrested and charged with drug trafficking and other offenses.
