Ottawa Police are asking for help retracing the steps of a renowned Inuit artist who was found dead in Lowertown earlier this week.
Annie Pootoogook, 46, was an acclaimed Inuit artist whose work was displayed around the world. Her drawings with pen and coloured pencils received international recognition.
Her body was found Monday morning in the Rideau River near Bordeleau Park, which is near the hub of downtown Ottawa homeless shelters. In recent years, Pootoogook had struggled with alcohol.
Police said her death isn’t considered suspicious, but they are trying to establish where she was in the time leading up to her death.
Anyone who saw her in the days leading up to Sept. 19 is asked to contact the major crimes unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493
More to come.
