Ottawa youth charged after allegedly setting four separate fires at Place d’Orleans LRT station

The Ottawa Police Service says a 14-year-old is facing charges related to four separate fires at Place d’Orleans LRT station.

The incidents happened between Nov. 8, and Dec. 29, 2024.

“There were four separate fires that our Arson Unit has been investigating with the assistance of OC Transpo, all of which have been linked to the youth,” said the city’s police service in a statement to CTV News Ottawa Thursday.

The estimated damage amounts to $7,000.

The 14-year-old has been charged with four counts of arson damage to property and four counts of possess incendiary.

They appeared in court Thursday.

The identity of the youth is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

Place d’Orleans station is part of Stage 2 of the eastern extension of LRT, with the O-Train running from Blair Station to Trim Station.
