Man killed in daytime shooting in Ottawa's Carlington neighbourhood
A 47-year-old man is dead following a daytime shooting in Ottawa's Carlington neighbourhood.
The shooting happened on Raven Avenue, near Kirkwood Avenue, at approximately 10:35 a.m. Wednesday.
"I heard six or seven shots, but I didn’t think it was shots," a witness told CTV News Ottawa. "I thought it was backfire."
Pat Cartisano was working in his auto shop down the street when the shots rang out.
"I heard several shots, I know what it sounds like, and I came out here and there was a whole crowd of people over there and there was a gentleman laying in the laneway," Cartisano said.
The victim, a 47-year-old man, died from his injuries in hospital. On Thursday, police identified the victim as Michael Quattrocchi of Ottawa.
Police say there are no suspects at this time.
"We suspect that it was a targeted act, but we don’t know if the victim was the intended target," Staff Sgt. Jeff Pilon said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information about the fatal shooting is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5493.
