Dozens of residents in Ottawa’s east-end started their day with slashed tires.
“It's pretty sad that somebody would take the time to do that. But it's not just my car, it's many other cars too,” says car owner Sonya Murray.
Ottawa police say multiple reports of mischief were received at 1330-1360 Ogilvie Rd.
Police were busy investigating the scene, today, where more than 20 vehicles were left with multiple flat tires. Some had as many as 10 puncture marks.
Residents believe the incidents occurred between 3 and 5 a.m.
‘We want the public to call us as soon as there is mischief done, if there's suspicious activity,” says Const. Chuck Benoit of the Ottawa Police Service.
“We were thinking with all people around its safe, but with this... no,” says vehicle owner Mariama Mounchili.
With three kids, Mounchili fears for their safety and says they might have to move.
The residents who live in the affordable housing complex say they can’t afford the cost of new tires. Still, many are opting to not use insurance to keep premiums from skyrocketing.
Their biggest fear is that after they replace their tires, this senseless act may happen again.
