Ottawa police have charged a 45-year-old school bus driver with impaired driving.

At around 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 , police responded to a crash between a school bus and a car at the intersection of Milton and Navan roads. No one was injured.

The bus driver was en route to a school to do a pick up for after school, and there were no kids on board the bus at the time of collision.

Police determined that the school bus driver, with the First Student school bus company, was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Kellie Perrier of Ottawa had been charged with impaired driving. She is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 29.

A spokesperson for First Student said they are "deeply saddened by this incident, and are thankful no students were onboard the bus at the time."

The spokesperson added "we understand the concern this has caused, and we want to reassure parents that safety is our core value at First Student and a responsibility we take very seriously."

First Student says they no longer employ the driver in question, while police say she no longer has a license.
