Maybe it was all a dream. 20-degree weather, open patios, playgrounds filled with laughing children.

Just a day later, Ottawa has been hit by another wave of winter weather.

“I want to go on vacation. This kind of weather, it’s too much,” says Ibrahim Mackie.

Yesterday, the Weed Man lawn technician was treating lawns on a beautiful day. Today, his fertilizer pellets are mixed with ice pellets.

“If it comes down too hard, yes I do stop, sit in the car, take it easy and listen to the radio,” says Mackie.

The change in weather is caused by a sharp arctic cold front. Temperatures dropping well below zero while offering a mix of rain, sleet and snow.

The cold will continue on throughout Wednesday before slowly warming up over the rest of the week.

Ottawa is already coming off the coldest winter in 20 years.
