The  O-Train is going to get a new name, new trains and new stations which could include a spur to the Ottawa  International Airport.

The $100 million expansion of the Trillium Line O-Train service will mean service will extend  from Greenboro to Riverside South.

The environmental assessment also includes the possibility of new stations at Gladstone Avenue, Confederation Heights and Walkley Road.

While the city is building east-west light rail service, officials at the Ottawa airport are excited about the possiblity of a link to the terminal.

'We have a world class city,  we have a world class airport, and those things together mean we need a world class transportation system, says Krista Kealey, Ottawa International Airport vice-president.

There is no cost estimate released for the airport link, nor are there any recommendations on how it would be funded.

New stations could include Gladstone Avenue and Walkley Road.

' We certainly see it helping people to our area. It's the city saying we recognize Little Italy as a great neighbourhood and we're planning for the future", says Lori Mellor, executive director of the Preston BIA.

The city also plans to service the expansion with six new Alstom trains.

That will allow service to increase to every eight minutes.

There are two public Open Houses for the public to get a first-hand look at the Trillium Line plan.

The first is Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 at the Jim Durrell Recreation Centre at 1256 Walkley Road from 6 to 8 p.m.

Another session will be held Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 at St. Anthony's Banquet Hall in Little Italy.
