Former Hershey plant could become medical marijuana grow op

Pending approval from Health Canada, a medical marijuana grow op could move into one of the buildings that used to be home to the Hershey Canada in Smiths Falls.

The more than 470,000 square foot facility has been empty since the factory closed up shop in 2008.  

Tweed Inc. of Ottawa, a medical marijuana supplier, says the move would create about 100 jobs.

Pending approval, the new facility could be up and running by April 2014.
