Ottawa Police and OPP have responded to dozens of collisions since the early morning rush hour as blowing snow and bitter cold leave highways in horrible driving condition.

At last count, Ottawa Police reported more than 80 collisions.

Highway 416 northbound was the scene of a multiple vehicle collision involving at least two tractor trailers. There were no serious injuries.

OPP has also closed Highway 417 at McCrimmon Road.

Environment Canada has issued a windchill warning for Ottawa. The low tonight will plunge to -36 with the windchill.

Ottawa Public Health has issued a Frostbite Warning until tomorrow. 

 

 

The blustery day began with a snowfall during the early morning rush hour which caused delays for many commuters of up to two hours. Roads were slippery even though snowplows had been out during the overnight hours.
