A 24-year-old is dead after drowning at Lac-Leamy beach on Thursday, July 2nd, 2015.
According to police, witnesses pulled the man out of the water around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, performing CPR on him until emergency crews took over.
The 24-year-old was transported to hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead. The man's identity is not being released, although police do say he is from Gatineau.
In light of last night's tragic accident, the city of Ottawa is reminding parents to ensure children always have adult supervision when in the water.
Drowning is one of the leading injury-related incidents for kids under the age of five. Experts also recommend making sure kids and weaker swimmers wear life-jackets, and keeping safety equipment and a phone close to the water.
