Hospitals welcome the first babies of 2025 in Ottawa and western Quebec
Ottawa's first baby of 2025 arrived 19 minutes into the new year.
The Ottawa Hospital says a baby boy named Oliver was born at the Civic Campus at 12:19 a.m. Wednesday, weighing 7 pounds and 14 ounces.
"The parents are resting," the Ottawa Hospital said in a statement on New Year's Day.
No other information was released about Oliver and his family.
Ottawa's first baby of 2024 was born at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital, while the first baby of 2023 in Ottawa was born at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus.
Western Quebec
The first baby of 2025 in western Quebec was born three hours into the new year.
The CISSS de l'Outaouais says a baby boy named Billy de la Durantaye was born at 3:26 a.m. on Wednesday. The CISS de l'Outaouais did not say where the baby was born.
"The whole family is doing well," the health agency said. "The CISSS de l'Outaouais congratulates them and wishes them much happiness."
