An Ottawa woman is in serious but stable condition after she suffered multiple skull fractures when she met a potential jewelry buyer to close an online deal at her home in Orleans earlier this week.

The 31-year-old mother of two arranged to meet the buyer at her home in response to an advertisement she posted on usedottawa.com for a sapphire and diamond bracelet valued at $2,520. She was selling the jewelry for $1,250.

However, the meeting quickly turned dangerous and somehow the woman was either dragged or struck by a vehicle.

Police are unsure if the buyer tried to steal the jewelry; however, the item remains missing.

Police are now looking for a white or silver sports car that was spotted speeding away from the scene. Investigators said the vehicle may have sustained damage to the body of the car or its windshield.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-TIPS.
